"gothic sci-fi with 'Heavy Metal-esque' gritty conflicts"
Bradbury's darker side in The Illustrated Man meets the gritty violence of Heavy Metal with gratifying carnage and compelling struggles. Narrated in a style reminiscent of endearing indie films spoken over haunting gothic ambience that tips the hat to Blade Runner. All the signs point to an addictive guilty-pleasure that I'm interested to hear unfold. Next installment, please...

"Yeeehaw!"
This is a good podcast. It's smart political and social criticism with intense sci-fi action. I'm anxiously awaiting the next episode.

"Shades of Ray Bradbury!"
The opening episode reminds one of Bradbury at his best. Anxiously awaiting additional episodes. May seem futuristic, but may be more relevant to our times or at least to the near future than we are ready to admit.

"Intense and intriguing"
Looks like a political satire disguised as a science fiction adventure. Whatever it is, I enjoyed it a lot, though the weird background music and violence may be a bit much for some people. The text is well-written and the story is unique. Very cool.

"GREAT FUN"
I've listened to the first four installments, and I love it so far...It's deliciously over-the-top...keep up the great work.

"I'M HOOKED"
This is good stuff.  I'd like to have it on a CD, to hear it all at one go.

"WHERE ARE YOU?"
Just curious. I only just found you on itunes at the end of may 2007. Are any more episodes ever going to happen? Maybe a cd book? I was really getting interested in the story and would love to see more.

"CONGRATULATIONS!"
Surprised by the extent at which you extend yourself, yet wrap yourself in a veil of mystery.  Unsure where truth lies in the projection of self or if reality remains virtual?  If you give a confession for absolution, do you then stretch the truth of your sin absolutely?  If you tell untruths to a stranger, will you ever be relieved of your duty to confess?  If the world hides the truth, and nothing really matters then why contemplate anything more?  If all I ate were roasted chicken, what then would I become?  Just a little food for thought for a character who lies under a cloak of unknown truths.  Intrigue, you wear it well.  Congratulations!

"THE FOOTSTEPS OF HEINLEIN"
I have been reading speculative fiction since the early 1960s and have never encountered a more auspicious premier work than The Hyperboreans.  Burton Harvey walks in the footsteps of Heinlein and Asimov.

"LIER" (sic)
Did you have fun writing those fake testimonials? They look like they are all written by the same person... Seriously that's that pathetic... I only clicked on the ad that linked me to your page because it said reptilians and I wanted some entertainment.  However what I got was an insulting attempt to convince the reader that people actually send you these ?!@#$ testimonials.  Put this one on your site! Lier.

"NATALIE AS TEACHING ASSISTANT"
Last night I dreamed that I was teaching literature in a university beside an ocean and Natalie was my TA. Her role was to bring to life the characters or events in the particular piece I was teaching. We were studying "The Odyssey" and she was producing winds on the ocean and ships flailing about that the students were watching through these huge windows (that she had also made appear). We were quite enthralled in our lesson when you (B.H.) came bursting into the classroom demanding to know what was going on because you had been called about the disturbing weather patterns and you figured we were up to something. The class was then over and you gave Natalie and me a good talking to and we giggled right through the lecture. And promised to be good and you just shook your head and then we all started laughing and it was over!

"YES I KNOW THEY ARE HERE"

There is a special spot on the moon's surface; when you zoom in too close you will see lizard-like animals looking at you, in your direction... I have this on video tape. They have an area on the moon that looks like the head of a small black bear's head. That's their domain on the moon.

Author's Note: We cannot yet endorse this gentleman's belief in physical reptilian beings, and we do not support Mr. David Icke's claim that our leaders are transgenic reptilian-human hybrids. However, we do feel that there is a psychological truth underlying this popular notion; specifically, some of our leaders are cold-blooded and snake-like in their lack of empathy and in their blatant disregard for the value of human life.

MAN!
Ok, this stuff is totally incredible...you found a huge Philip K Dick/Chuck Palahniuk fan, and that's what this reminds me of - and so relevant for today! I love it. Keep it coming! You've been bookmarked. :)

"Vonnegut would dig it...."
I simply CANNOT WAIT for the next episode to come out. Harvey has crafted a good old-fashioned pot boiler in a futuristic setting with present-day relevance. Harvey seems to hint upon the theme that perhaps the only hope for Earth is that we can escape to outer space, an idea that doesn't seem farfetched compared to our hopes for political peace on this ever-warmer, spinning rock. THAC! THAC! THAC! THAC!

"Freaky COOL"
This is a really gripping story -- which has frightening undercurrents comparable to our present-day society. Kind of gory -- at least so far -- but I think that is used for symbolism more than anything else. I am waiting for Episode 3. Two thumbs up!

"DEAR MR. HARVEY"
I just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed listening to the first two chapters of your book, The Hyperboreans. Your vivid descriptions of the characters and the settings, in which they were placed, enabled us to be privey to the scenes from the very first sentences. We are looking forward to listening to the additional chapters.

We have reached the point where we are now possessed of sufficient information for each individual human to dare to exercise the option to "make it" rather than having to depend on the decisions of an educated elite.
